The St. Mary's Law Journal welcomes the submission of unsolicited manuscripts. Submissions must be typed and doubled-spaced. All citations must conform to A Uniform System of Citation (20th ed. 2015). The St. Mary's Law Journal does not accept unsolicited student-written manuscripts.
The St. Mary's Law Journal is the flagship law journal of St. Mary's University School of Law and endavors to provide members of the bench and bar timely, relevent scholarship.
Founded in 1969, the St. Mary’s Law Journal consistently ranks in the top 5% of most frequently cited law reviews by state and federal courts. The St. Mary's Law Journal was built on a “practitioner’s journal” platform, and has contributed immensely to the legal community both in the State of Texas and on a national scale.
In recent years, the St. Mary’s Law Journal has been cited by the supreme courts of twenty-two states. In addition to the numerous citations by state supreme courts, during that same time period the St. Mary’s Law Journal was also cited by United States Courts of Appeals on sixteen different occasions. The frequency of citations by federal appellate courts reinforces the Journal‘s longstanding belief that publishing quality legal scholarship will assist in understanding and administering the law. The St. Mary’s Law Journal has also been cited by the United States Supreme Court on three separate occasions. Justice Powell cited the Journal in 1975, Justice Marshall cited the Journal in 1979, and most recently in 2006, the St. Mary’s Law Journal was cited by Justice Thomas.
