Considering the new Immigration reform legislation that was recently passed, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, and the fact that President Obama has deported 1.4 million people since 2008 and 400,000 people in 2012 alone (http://www.policymic.com/articles/21399/immigration-reform-obama-to-make-major-push-in-2013), is an undocument person who is looking to remain in the United States putting themselves at risk if they applied for this deferred action status because whether or not they are allowed this temporary legal status, they are putting the government on notice of their illegal status. If they are granted this temporary status, what happens if this status is not renewed, since renewal is under the discretion of the government and there is no guideline in place to determine whether a person can indefinitely apply for such status? If they are denied, then they will be placed in removal proceedings. Is it better to remain unnoticed and find other avenues to permanent status or try their luck for this deferred action status leading and hoping eventually to find an opportunity of permanent status?
