Timothy Williams

(Graduate Student)

I am currently a doctoral candidate in the Political Science Department at Clark Atlanta University.  I’m originally from Kansas City, Kansas and have spent nine years in Atlanta, Georgia.  I came to Atlanta, Georgia in 2009 to attend Morehouse College for a Bachelors of Art in Sociology and minor in Criminal Justice.  After I graduated from Morehouse College in 2014, I then attended Clark Atlanta University in the fall.  I graduated from Clark Atlanta University in 2016 with a Masters of Art in sociology.  I seek to understand the in-depth focus of dealing with race and urban studies. I’m committed as a professional in the field of education by promoting the study of theory and practice in tandem with research. I hope to learn how to bring educational research to bear on forming and implementing educational policy and practice to advance educational opportunities for all. I have a strong passion and desire to critically examine the issues in the community around me and find ways to work with the community to advance issues of justice and educational equity. I want to prepare to become one who works with policy makers and one who examiners policy and the effects of policy on the system of education.   Once I complete my education, it is my intent to work in academia as a professor and researcher or continue my research in organizations dedicated to issues of justice and educational equity.  I used to be apart of these organizations, AmeriCorps (Jumpstart), ROTC, National Guard, Clark Atlanta University Sociology Association and Breakthrough Atlanta.  Currently, I’m affiliated with the Alpha Kappa Delta, Alpha Phi Sigma,  Pi Sigma Alpha, Pi Gamma Mu,  Ujamaa Society, Mid- South Sociological Association, CAU Alumni Local Chapter (Atlanta) and Southwest Key Program.
