Biblical Interpretation

new testament, cultural theory, biblical canon, paul

About Me

I am in pursuit of my dream of being an interesting teacher of undergraduates-- someone who can mentor and challenge young people at an important point in their lives. I am seeking a PhD with a concentration in Biblical Interpretation from the DU/Iliff Joint doctoral program (JDP). For my master's thesis at Iliff School of Theology, I wrote about the effects of hypertext on reading the bible using the test case of 1 Timothy.

My academic interests include New Testament, Canon Issues, Cultural Theory, and Paul.

My academic project is about books and their place in the world. Books that have influenced lives through their place or rhetorical prowess are the most fascinating to me; the bible in particular has profoundly changed the course of history. My biblical hermeneutic is about the material cultures in which bibles and their readers live. I tend to view the bible as a readerly text, though I deeply value the history of its construction and writing. The nature of my interests requires that I spend a some of my time on languages, including: Koine Greek, Biblical Hebrew, Sahidic Coptic, Spanish, French and German.
