Introduction:You would find many tools in the industries. However, the basic ones are still the screws, nuts, and pipes. Each of these tools has threads on them. The beauty of the device is that the screw or the pipe would go through one ring but would not go through the other. It would entail that the tolerance factor is perfect.
On the other hand, the implements that have the threads on the insides are certain pipes and nuts. You have to use the thread plug gauges for determining the tolerance factor. These implements would be a sort of a plug, one side of which would go inside the implement smoothly. The other side should not go through. If it does, then the tools fail to pass the test. They require improvement.
The pipes also have different kinds of threads as compared to the screws and the nuts. The call it the NPT thread in the industry circles. These particular kinds of threads require some additional treatment to prevent leakages. They apply a lubricating material or a tape while affixing them to prevent leakages.
Sometimes, the pipes carry inflammable liquids and gasses. Under such circumstances, one has to exercise more care. The lubricating material would not suffice. Therefore, they use other equipment such as Teflon for affixing the threads. It makes these implements leak proof.
The advantages of the thread gauges are as follows.You would be able to check the tolerance levels of these implements. You would be able to determine whether these instruments are good or bad. The best part of all these activities is that you can perform this activity with ease. You do not require any particular kind of training to conduct these tests. Any engineering student would be able to manage the task with ease.
