I was reading the NYT article "College of Future Could Be Come One, Come All", which covers the rise of online classes offered by elite universities and the benefits of free and technologically up-to-date classes.

The article also points out the challenges of assessing online learning, both for an individual test or single class, as well as at the institutional level where the question arises: should these online courses count for credit?

I'm curious what experiences people have had with teaching, grading, or enrolling in online college courses – and specifically any experiences dealing with assessing or grading these courses.
