It is a pleasure to invite you to: A Wild Approach: Creating a Global Lens for Animal Welfare Through International Law and Policy

This symposium is organized by the Connecticut Journal of International Law and will take place on April 8 and 9, 2021. Founded in 1985, the Connecticut Journal of International Law is a student-run organization that publishes up to three issues every academic year. Our articles cover a wide range of topics in international law, comparative law, and the extraterritorial effect of United States law and policy. Additionally, the journal leads discussion and debate on international law at UConn Law by hosting guest speakers and organizing an annual symposium.

This year, our symposium will explore emerging concerns and improved strategies for protecting animal welfare through international law and policy. Panel discussion topics include comparative analysis of wildlife law, sustainability in food systems, special interests and considerations for coastal and marine life, as well as pedagogical approaches to international perspectives of animal law

The deadline to submit an initial, complete working draft is June 11, 2021. To be considered for publication in our symposium issue, your submission must be at least 10 pages and related to the symposium topics described above. To submit, please email kathleen.cason@uconn.edu, attaching a .doc or .docx file of your draft.

For more information on the symposium, please visit cjil.law.uconn.edu. For any inquiries regarding the symposium, please contact Sierra Santana (sierra.santana@uconn.edu) and Jonathan Bedosky (jonathan.bedosky@uconn.edu).

We look forward to seeing you there and reading your submission!
