Dear Scholars,
On behalf of the UCLA Chicanx Latinx Law Review (CLLR), we would like to invite you to submit your scholarship to our 39th Volume to be published in May 2023.
CLLR was the first legal journal to exclusively center legal issues affecting Latinx communities. CLLR holds a reputation for publishing impactful, exceptional scholarship, and has been cited by the Federal Court of Appeals, Federal District Courts, State Supreme Courts, and State Courts as persuasive authority.
Volume 39 of CLLR is currently scheduled to publish two Articles. First, CLLR is publishing an Article that presents an original empirical portrait of the first Latina lawyers to enter the legal profession and tracks the representation of Latinas in the legal field over the course of a century. This article is the springboard of a Fall 2023 symposium celebrating Latina professionals in the law and investigating issues impacting Latinas. Second, CLLR is publishing an Article that highlights the important role Latina scholars play in mentoring minority women law students, their invaluable contribution to feminist scholarship, and their advocacy for the rights of women and families.
CLLR is looking for scholarship that complements these two Articles, or on other topics affecting Latinx peoples and communities, like affirmative action, criminal justice, workers’ rights, and immigration policy. CLLR is particularly interested in elevating Latina scholarship.
Each volume of CLLR is between 10,000 to 15,000 words (including footnotes). CLLR uses the Bluebook (21st Edition) for citations and the Chicago Manual of Style for content. CLLR requests that submissions be in Word document format. CLLR primarily accepts scholarly articles but is open to publishing other material, such as book reviews. Manuscripts can also be sent to cllr@lawnet.ucla.edu.
